Charleston is one of the most popular wedding destinations for good reason. It has a unique charm unlike any other city in the world. Truly it is such a beautiful place, from the beautiful architecture and the gorgeous views in gardens and Charleston waterways.

Popular wedding trends in Charleston include outdoors-y soirees under a canopy of great oaks, antique lounges, and LOTS of greenery; eucalyptus, ruscus, smilax, the works! What elements can you use to infuse a little Charlestonian charm in your wedding? Here are some of our favorite trends!

1. Unorthodox getaways! Long gone are the days of the limousine getaway. Vintage wheels, horse drawn carriages, and cute little rickshaws are a few cool options to up the anty on your getaway.

2. Dress up the bar! Charleston is known for its hospitality and what's hospitality without a few drinks. The top most important thing Charleston couples say they envision for their wedding is a great time, so drape your bar in pretty and make it the focal point of your reception... aside from you of course.

3. Pretty Cakes big or small are a deliciously sweet way to add a little something to your dream day. We recommend either a large monumental cake or a pristine and petite one. Remember that guests always wait on the cake. They are looking forward to it!

4. Having a trendy wedding is great, but in Charleston, classic is King! Crisp white linens, monograms, neutral color palettes, and candelight are all lowcountry faves.

These Cincinnatians were dreaming of a romantic Lowcountry feel. Their wedding style was filled with romantic hues, lots of candlelight, and just a touch of sparkle. They had a traditional Catholic wedding in historic Charleston, and then they danced the night away on the harbor.

Planning their wedding from North Carolina, Shelby and Josh had a vision for a little of Charleston's historic charm. The Gadsden House with it's beautiful southern piazza full of magnolias and crepe myrtle played the backdrop to their wedding day. Personal touches included a beautiful dessert display near a fireplace draped in smilax and ruscus greenery and adorned with a small wooden giraffe whose presence was a commemoration to the Shelby's aunt.
